Select Committees & APPG's

Chris Davies MP is currently a member of the Welsh Affairs Select Committee and the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee (including the EFRA Sub Committee). Select Committees check and report on areas ranging from the work of government departments to economic affairs. House of Commons Select Committees are largely concerned with examining the work of government departments. There is a Commons Select Committee for each government department, examining three aspects: spending, policies and administration. The committee members decide upon the line of inquiry and then gather written and oral evidence. Findings are reported to the Commons, printed, and published on the Parliament website. The government then usually has 60 days to reply to the committee's recommendations.

Chris Davies MP is currently a member of a range of All Party Parliamentary Groups which includes being an officer of the following Vice Chair of Fire Safety Rescue, Chair of Forestry, Chair of the Soft Drinks Industry, Vice Chair of Eggs, Pigs and Poultry and Officer of UK Events Industry. An All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPG) is an informal cross-party group which are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords but also may choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside parliament in their activities. These groups can cover a range of areas from country specific to focusing on a particular topic or issue.
