It was a real privilege last night to meet with fire crews in Brecon for their Monday night training drill. Representatives from Talgarth, Hay on Wye and Crickhowell were also in attendance.
Our fire service teams do a fantastic job dealing with all sorts of accidents, such as fires, road traffic accidents and flooding.
It was great to have a question and answer session with the team and to hear their concerns and hopes for the future. The aerial ladder in Llandrindod was raised and is something I will look into.
I will keep in close contact with the Officers and Senior Fire Command to organise another visit on one of their more intense training sessions in the near future to get a further understanding.
Their hard work over the summer months tackling grass fires across our countryside has not gone unnoticed. We owe them for their hard work and dedication and I thank them for that.
This experience has given me a much needed insight into the fantastic work our fire service here in Brecon and Radnorshire does. I will take the issues raised to the House of Commons and deal with them in due course!
