Andrew RT Davies AM and Chris Davies MP meet with residents opposing the Hendy Wind Farm development.
The Conservative politicians criticised the Labour Cabinet Secretary’s intervention on the Hendy Wind Farm proposal in Radnorshire during an exchange at the National Assembly for Wales.
The Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary, Lesley Griffiths, overturned the decision of the Powys County Council planning committee and the planning inspectorate to grant permission for the wind farm proposal between Penybont and Llandegley.
Local residents have vocally disapproved of the decision and recently protested at Powys County Hall in Llandrindod Wells.
Local MP Chris Davies said:
“It was great to meet with such local residents near Llandegley. Large numbers of local residents are totally opposed to the proposed wind farm development and I am proud to stand with them.
I was pleased to meet with Andrew near the proposed site. Andrew recently spoke out against the development and held Lesley Griffiths to account over her choice to overturn the decision made by Powys County Council’s planning committee and the planning inspectorate who rejected the idea of the wind farm development.
Over the coming months I will be supporting Andrew and the Conservative team in the Welsh Assembly to hold the Labour/Liberal Government to account over this decision.”
Andrew RT Davies said:
“It was a pleasure to meet such a passionate and knowledgeable group of residents who are rightly angered at the Welsh Government’s decision to overrule the decisions taken by the local planning committee and planning inspectorate.
This is the latest in a series of inexplicable decisions by the Labour Government in Cardiff Bay which ignores evidence and the concerns of local communities.
Welsh Conservatives will continue to fight against these plans and ensure the voices of residents are heard loud and clear.
This has been a scandalous intervention by the Labour Minister and one has to wonder what influence the Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Brecon and Radnorshire is actually wielding at the Welsh Government’s cabinet table when such unpopular proposals are being imposed in her own backyard.”
